IMA President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joseph Varon has been involved with the Asia Pacific Symposium on Critical Care and Emergency Medicine for three decades, serving as co-chairman for 25 of them. Now in its 30th year, the symposium brings together critical care specialists from across the globe to assess what the field has accomplished, what the pandemic revealed, and where acute and emergency medicine goes next. This year marks IMA’s first time joining as a sponsor, bringing the organization’s resources and reach to a symposium Dr. Varon has helped build over a quarter century.

This year’s symposium runs July 31 through August 2, 2026, in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. Dr. Varon will be joined by IMA Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs Dr. Ryan Cole, IMA Senior Fellow in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Dr. Adylle Varon, and IMA Senior Director of Communications and International Fellowship Program Lynne Kristensen. The event is open to in-person and virtual attendees. Visit criticalcarebali.com for the full program and registration details.
