Independent Medical Alliance Applauds Department of Defense for Reinstating 8,700 Service Members Discharged Over COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

“The reinstatement of these brave service members corrects a grave injustice.” – Dr. Kirk Milhoan, Lt. Col., USAF, Veteran

(Washington, DC) – The Independent Medical Alliance (IMA), a coalition of frontline physicians advocating for evidence-based medicine, welcomes the Department of Defense’s decision to reinstate over 8,700 service members discharged for declining the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. The following statement was issued by IMA Senior Fellow and US Air Force Veteran, Dr. Kirk Milhoan:

“The forced discharge of thousands of dedicated service members for exercising medical choice was an unprecedented injustice. These individuals, who swore to protect our nation, were penalized for questioning an experimental treatment with emerging safety concerns. This decision by Secretary Hegseth and the Department of Defense is a critical step toward restoring trust and honoring the sacrifices of our military personnel.”

Recent peer-reviewed research, including a study in the International Journal of Cardiovascular Research & Innovation, has raised significant concerns about mRNA vaccines, reporting a 620% increase in myocarditis among young men and a 175% rise in pericarditis. Additional studies suggest potential links to immune dysregulation and other long-term health risks, underscoring the validity of concerns raised by service members.
