I’ve been looking through IMA’s free Antioxidants & Plant Compounds guide, and it’s a brilliant reminder that food and plants are not just “nice extras.”
These compounds are doing serious work in the body.
Some of the standouts:
Alpha Lipoic Acid — often called the “universal antioxidant,” supports mitochondria, blood sugar, nerve health and antioxidant recycling.
Astaxanthin — found in wild salmon and seafood, supports skin, eyes, brain, inflammation and healthy aging.
Berberine — a plant compound often discussed for blood sugar, cholesterol, digestion and metabolic health.
CoQ10 — essential for mitochondrial energy, especially important because levels decline with age and statins can deplete it.
Milk thistle — one of the best-known liver-supporting herbs, used for detoxification, bile flow and liver cell protection.
Nigella sativa — also known as black seed oil, traditionally used for immune, respiratory, metabolic and inflammatory support.
Quercetin — found in onions, apples, citrus, berries and tea, often used for allergies, mast cells, immune support and inflammation.
The guide also covers turmeric, elderberry, dandelion, omega-3, resveratrol, glutathione, spirulina and chlorella.
Download, save, print, share with family, or leave somewhere useful for someone else to pick up.
I’ll add the link for you to download the guide in the comments
Do you already use any of the plant based compounds like turmeric, quercetin, black seed oil, milk thistle or something else?
