“Reading about Paracelsus reminds me why patient-first rebels are still so vital today. He fought to put real people ahead of rigid dogma.

Exactly what we’re trying to do with our Restoring Trust project. We’re building a free, ethical doctor network so finding clinicians who truly listen (and question outdated ‘rules’) is finally easy. If you believe modern medicine needs more Paracelsus-style courage, please jump in and help us make this network a reality:

What a great thread, thanks @vegandan for starting this conversation. AI is a great assistant, but you always need to verify its findings, the data is gathered first from “trusted” sources so often has to be challenged to return “alternative” positions.

IMA physicians called the decision a landmark move away from one-size-fits-all mandates and toward a more patient-centered model of care. During the committee’s deliberations, ACIP members repeatedly emphasized the need to restore clinical judgment, respect parental involvement, and ensure that medical decisions reflect individual health circumstances, not federal blanket directives.

“This is a meaningful course correction,” said Dr. Joseph Varon, IMA President and Chief Medical Officer. “For the first time in years, we’re seeing federal advisory bodies acknowledge what frontline physicians have always known: medicine must be individualized. No family should ever again face the kind of coercive mandates we saw during COVID. Today’s ACIP vote is an encouraging step toward rebuilding trust between patients and public-health institutions.”

Today’s action aligns directly with the IMA’s Parents’ Healthcare Bill of Rights, released in August, which outlined seven core protections to safeguard parental authority, require transparency, guard against overmedicalization, and reaffirm the centrality of the doctor–patient relationship. The document also called for an end to universal medical mandates in favor of personalized clinical decision-making.

“ACIP’s decision is a balanced approach which will allow us to get even more data and make better choices,” Dr. Varon added. “When medical choices are guided by evidence, individualized risk, and the trusted relationship between a family and their doctor, patients win, and public health is strengthened.”

@Braves54 I can feel your frustration. I have done some reading about navigating difficult conversations, and I agree we have never been more polarized about medical decisions. I always approach any conversation by letting people know that my non-negotiable is informed consent. I don’t mind what you choose to do, but you should want to know as much as you can so you make the best decision you can, I find that everyone agrees with this. So with this in mind, when someone is dogmatic in their point of view, I ask them to please share their research and reading as I am always curious and open to hearing another point of view. Most times, the answer is “I don’t have any to share, I just heard it from x” .

This shines a light on their lack of knowledge and may inspire them to read more. You could offer them something that’s easy to read or listen to, it may just get them interested in exploring the topic a little more. (You could ask the community about books etc they recommend)

One of the things we have seen with a few friends in the past few years is they are actively asking for our advice, we really watch our diet and exercise daily, and leading by example is paying off as a few friends have lost weight and feel so much better, they tell us openly that they were inspired by us.

I am not perfect, so often forget these rules and land up in an argument with someone that just digs their heels in and we both loose.

Anyway, just some tactics I use.

Thanks so much for being open and taking part in the discussions.

Agree, overeating is an addiction and most addicts never want to acknowledge they have an addiction, that being the first step to healing. I wonder how we help so that they start to want to change?

So sorry, I don’t have any idea. I follow a great Holistic Vet on Instagram (also on YT) called Dr. Andrew Jones, perhaps give him a follow.

Danke …. for those that need a translation “As a naturopathic physician, I’m not a fan of taking dietary supplements indiscriminately. Of course, it makes sense to correct deficiencies and meet clearly identified additional needs.

For example, with anti-inflammatory agents and phytotherapeutics, one should know precisely <strong data-start=”280″ data-end=”289″>where they inhibit inflammation, whether the patient’s immune system is already suppressed, and whether it can still respond appropriately. This year’s Nobel Prize highlighting regulatory B17 T-cells shows just how complex our immune system is—and thus how remedies and interventions can both help <strong data-start=”582″ data-end=”589″>and harm. We face the same dilemma with vaccines.”

I often point out to people that so many people that changed the course of modern medicine were not qualified e.g Florence Nightingale … and they were often dismissed to start, but their protocols changed the outcomes for all of us. I think the real pandemic today is the lack of critical thinking, so glad we are part of an organization that’s helping to educate people and provide resources. Thank you for being part of this movement @goldenarrow
