That’s the question Dr. Joseph Varon asks in his latest article for the Brownstone Institute.

I’ve seen so many photographs from the 1970s, and one thing that always strikes me is how different people looked. You rarely seem to see the levels of obesity that are so common today.

Of course, old photographs don’t tell us the whole story, but they do make me wonder just how much has changed in a relatively short time.

Obesity has increased dramatically over the past few generations. So what’s changed?

In his article, Dr. Varon looks beyond medication and explores the bigger picture: changes in our food, how much we move, our sleep, our environment and the way we live.

Medications such as GLP-1s may be helpful for some people, but Dr. Varon raises an important question: are we paying enough attention to the underlying factors driving obesity?

I’d love to hear your thoughts about the wide use of medication to treat a lifestyle problem?

We had best stop worrying so much about the weight issue and start worrying about our dangerous eating patterns. It’s time to put Big Food out to pasture.
