When a Tick Bite Turns Into an Immune System Problem

Alpha-gal sounds like a pop band not an immune response to a tick bite that causes the body starts reacting to alpha-gal, a sugar molecule found in mammal meat and other mammal-derived products.

So when someone eats beef, pork, lamb, gelatin, sometimes dairy, and hours later they may get hives, gut symptoms, swelling, breathing issues, or even anaphylaxis.

Alpha-gal is not just “a red meat allergy.” It sits right in the bigger world of tick-borne illness, mast cell activation, immune dysregulation, gut issues, unexplained reactions, and patients being told for years that their symptoms are random.

Watch Dr. Ryan Cole’s interview with The National News Desk where he explaines this further. https://imahealth.org/alpha-gal-syndrome-when-a-tick-bite-leads-to-a-red-meat-allergy/

I do wonder how many modern “mystery illnesses” are really immune system misfires that medicine is too slow to connect?

Have you ever had a strange food reaction that took you ages to connect to the cause?
