The Strongest Prescription for Ageing Well
I’ve followed this journalist for years and watched her help her parents, well into their 80s, become stronger, more capable, and more vibrant through weight training.
Her latest interview is with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan, a former emergency physician and co-author of The Barbell Prescription. He makes a compelling case that one of the most powerful interventions for healthy ageing is building and maintaining muscle.
Strength training can improve balance, preserve independence, reduce frailty, strengthen bones, improve metabolic health, and help extend both healthspan and lifespan.
It’s such a positive, practical message. Rather than simply accepting that growing older means growing weaker, it reminds us there’s a great deal we can do to age well.
Do you include any strength training in your routine?
