The American Society of Plastic Surgeons announced it will no longer support gender-related surgical procedures for minors while it conducts a comprehensive review of the scientific evidence.

The organization cited concerns about limited high-quality data, long-term outcomes, and the need to uphold evidence-based and ethical medical standards.

A move in the right direction?

    Hi Helen,
Indeed, this is wonderful news! I say allow them to mature and make their own decisions as adults.

Agree, as long as real informed consent happens and they understand the risks … thanks @acros1952

    A quick quote from Copilot:

    Prefrontal cortex maturation

    – The prefrontal cortex—responsible for planning, impulse control, judgment, and emotional regulation—continues to refine its connectivity into the late 20s and around age 30.

Something to think about when deciding “at what age” a person is fully capable of making life changing decisions.

Agree … even now I look back in the recent past and question my decisions, and they were not life changing.
