    Hello

I have been using a cPap machine for sleep apnea for over 15 years. It’s not really working but I don’t have any other options. At least my respiratory doctor isn’t telling me about any.

A friend told there is surgery. Does anyone know where I can find info on the surgery?

    Thanks.

I would be interested in this topic as well My son who is 30 has sleep apnea. He doesn’t find the machine helps and he feels tired most days. He sleeps in and is late for work some days because he has a really hard time waking up.

My coworker’s husband had a lot of issues and struggled with CPAP and he was finally given the INSPIRE implant. You can look it up online under “Inspire Sleep Apnea Treatment”.

If a person with sleep apnea is overweight, losing that weight is often a necessary part of very successful treatment.

I’ve heard about Inspire but I can only find Inspires’ website not an independent evaluation site. I did find another company, AIRLIFT. There could be side effects on either.

5 yrs ago I was diagnosed w/moderate OSA (obstructive sleep apnea). Because I didn’t want a cPap my dentist recommended the Panthera D-SAD device, which is a “dental appliance designed to treat OSA by gently shifting the jaw forward during sleep, helping to keep the airway open. It is particularly suitable for mild to moderate cases and is known for its comfort and precise fit.” It’s so effective for me I refuse to sleep w/o it. If you have OSA, you may want to look into this device. Hope this helps 🙂

Many, many people are curing their sleep apnea. I recommend checking out their stories here.

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, didn’t want to use CPap, and was fitted with an adjustable mandibular device which I used for five years with success. I discovered a wonderful MD for sleep apnea with great videos and learned a whole lot about apnea: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vik+veer+sleep+apnea

Using Dr. Veer’s instructions, I began doing myofacial exercises years ago, have made a concerted effort to side sleep, and use a strip of tape to keep my mouth shut at night. This works for me so I stopped using the mandibular device a couple of years ago.

Caution: my routine is not advisable for people with significant apnea. If you try it, be sure to monitor the results.
