Should We Consider Any Vaccines?

  • Should We Consider Any Vaccines?

Posted by David Balius on October 21, 2026 at 3:46 pm EDT

It’s the time of year where every visit to the drugstore or doctor we are encouraged to get the flu, RSV, pneumonia, and shingles vaccines. We are both in good health, keep our D levels over 80 and take C, zinc, and vitamin E in addition to a multi-vitamin. I am 72 and my wife is 71. After dodging the COVID vaccine the past 5 years (never got COVID, either), we are wondering about the others. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I personally have lost all trust in the medical industry. The last word “industry” is the issue. We are not healed. We are treated repeatedly for the financial and political gains of others. I would never let these people inject me again. I’ll take my chances.

I couldn’t agree more. The junkies on the street have more credibility than the drug pushers in white coats as far as I am concerned. I am a customer of neither.

My MD functional medicine always steared me away from the injections, saying it weakens the immune system. I did get shingles, however it was mild, most likely because i use vitd and other supplements to support the immune system. For the rash i applied ivermectin cream (horse paste) and it was gone in 3 days. I also took ivermectin orally. Never had a the flu shot and i work at a hospital . Avoid any and all shots.

None at this time! Too many have had severe side effects. I keep ivermectin on hand if needed.

I keep things simple — if the word “Vaccine” is mentioned, my answer is, “No”. I focus on lifestyle habits for my immune system — diet, exercise/ wholesome recreational activities, sleep/rest, hand washing, Vitamin D, etc. I take astragalus during the fall/winter months, which I personally feel has been beneficial. If I feel “edgy” I take Emergen-C for a vitamin/mineral boost.

The big questions are always pneumonia and shingles. That’s where the biggest threat-pressure seems to lie. It would be helpful to have some substantive commentary on these, rather than “never-touch-any-of-the-stuff.”

We agree wholeheartedly with Jeff1234. No more vaccines for us either! We are 83 and almost 77 and try to keep our vit. D level over 80, take zinc & vit. C, and eat liver for B vitamins. Our functional health doc does not recommend taking supplements. Most daily vitamins have additives and dyes you are better without. We used to take Emergen-C until we read the ingredient list. Wish we’d had never gotten the pneumonia shot. Wife got shingles shot and we’re wondering if that’s what caused a severe brain bleed weeks later. Both got swine flu shots in late 70’s, the only flu shot we’ve gotten. Husband later got Guillain Garre’ and wife had appendicitis (during pregnancy). We stay healthy by eating only real food (no processed) and exercising/working out daily.

Not so much to comment on the above vaccines (I won’t have any of them and am a healthy 67 year old) but to let you know of a product I have been using in the winter months and that I have been giving my parents to avoid bacterial pneumonia as a potential side effect of the flu etc.

It’s called BUCCALINE and is an oral anti-bacterial specific to the pneumonia bacteria most commonly associated with pneumonia. An elderly friend first told me about it. He had pneumonia every winter until he started taking it and hasn’t had pneumonia since (coincidence?).

For more info check out the website (I have no affiliation whatsoever with this company or product other than that I love it!)

I was very interested in this, as I recently had a bad fall where I landed on my rib cage and am pretty sure I developed pneumonia soon after, but what is putting me off is the repeated use that word vaccine.

Buccaline sounds interesting, but I’m concerned that, like vaccines intramuscularly, an oral dose of bacteria is not the nasal/lung mucosa infection route of the disease. With no link to the study, there isn’t solid foundation for evaluating it. In any case, are you in NZ? The places to buy (the website doesn’t sell) all seem to be NZ bound.

From personal experience and taking care of vaccine-injured patients, none are “safe and effective” or have a positive benefit-risk ratio. Rather/better to optimize one’s immune system and overall health; and nebulized food-grade peroxide/sterile saline at onset will generally effectively and quickly quiet/resolve nasal-upper airway/respiratory infections.
