“Is it a myth that you should not drink even small amounts of vinegar – so many myths around this – please give us the truth. I am not talking swishing – just a couple of tablespoons taken orally”

Another great question from the Dental Health Webinar and the answer in the comments from Dr Hibberd.

Daily consumption of a 1 tablespoon of vinegar combined with a glass of some juice or water is shown to have some benefits primarily from the acetic acid content.

Studies done over an 8-12 week period showed it can lower fasting blood glucose. In vitro it demonstrated antimicrobial properties.

Keep in mind, vinegar is acidic, typically approximately 5% acetic acid. Diluting it in a glass of water or juice is recommended. It’s best viewed as a potential food-based adjunct, rather than a miracle tonic.

If you have health conditions or take medications consider talking to your healthcare provider before starting daily use.
