COVID treatment: Ivermectin and new visual symptoms – Advice needed

on February 17, 2026 at 10:25 am ESTHello,
I’m asking for guidance regarding my husband’s COVID treatment and some new symptoms. He’s not vaccinated. His symptoms started on Feb 11 and he went to urgent care on Feb 15 for cough and fever to rule out pneumonia; COVID was diagnosed. The I-CARE early covid protocol was started the same day, including 30mg ivermectin daily (planned for 5 days) plus supplements. He weights 95 kg.
He has had muscle pain in his calves and back, which started before starting the ivermectin treatment, but he has no other symptoms that would indicate blood clots (no swelling, redness, or warmth).
Last night and this morning, he noticed mild “sparkly” and shaky vision with a mild headache. this could possibly be due to pressure changes from coughing, dehydration, or viral illness itself. However, we are concerned that it could be a neurological side effect of ivermectin. He has taken two doses so far, and the next dose is schedule this afternoon. Would it be safer to stop ivermectin given this these visual symptoms?
Thank you for any guidance.

Good morning,
I am not in the medical profession, so I can only share my personal experience. I have been taking IVM for about 6 months now (under physician care), I take 60mg per day. In the first few weeks, I had visual disturbances when I woke up in the morning, but they would dissipate shortly after. I stopped having them completely after a few weeks.
Best of luck to you.

I have taken ivermectin for weeks and months at a time when my Lyme disease symptoms get bad. It’s a big help but it does give me ‘transient’ vision anomalies each time. My vision returns to normal once I get the ivermectin out of my system.

Let me see if I can get some input from the team.

Thank you!

I am not a medical professional but I have taken Ivermectin for 4 years for prophylactic reasons. I ran out at one point and got the most horrendous cold, I was at that point taking 3mg a day I have 3/6/12mg tablets and if I run out of 3mg I take 6mg or 12mg until my new batch arrives. I have never taken high doses that your hubby is on, but I do remember having vision issues when I first took 12mg but they passed in a few days. The best thing is apart from my blip I haven’t had even the sniffles during all that time.

The visual disturbances are from the virus and the leg and back pains are part of a robust immune response to the virus.

Dr. Pierre Kory has mentioned that vision issues are sometimes noticed with Ivermectin use but that this goes away when Ivermectin is stopped.

Answering as a non-prescriber who hasn’t dosed ivermectin for family for a few years. When my adult son had covid for the second time I did some quick calculations on my way home from work and two days later he reported having vision disturbances. I told him to stop and his normal vision returned the following day. I re-examined my calculations and found I made an error. Way too high a dosage for his weight and he is not a little guy. As a non-prescriber I would question if your husband needed to continue taking it after 5-7 days now?

Thanks for your input. After I showed him the replies, he decided to continue. The eye disturbance has reduced a bit. He is about 70% better, still has a cough and a bit of brain fog. Today is his last dose, and he might not need more. I also got COVID. Today is my 3rd day. The first two days a had a lot of body ache and chills. Today I feel much better. I ordered ivermectin and its arriving today, but since I’m feeling better, I might not take it. Thanks again for your input!

@papoula73 Great to hear of the improvements. 👍 Thanks very much for dropping your question here in the forums and now for updating us too.

Glad you’re feeling better. Curious if this is your first time getting covid? Also if you’re in the U.S. would like to hear where you got your latest supply of ivermectin? I haven’t purchased in years and should probably restock as my mom is 90.

Although IVM is an amazing drug, I would recommend that you add a few more days of treatment past your “I’m feeling much better day,” whenever that is. I had a premonition of a flu like symptom one day last year and took a dose of IVM and felt much better on the following day. One day later the symptom returned so added a couple of days of treatment and the symptom then went away. I surmised that I failed to treat long enough to cure whatever was starting to present itself. Dose is a combination of amount and duration. Just my observation. Not medical advice. Not practicing medicine. My disclosures.

I have used ivermectin .2mg/kg 1x or 2x weekly, & when really sick a few times daily even a couple pills (compounded) until my sickness of cold or flu or covid subsides. (Yes take a few days after symptoms subside). I have used consistently since early 2021, using a doctor recommended by IMA, per IMA protocols working always to be proactive.
My body is quick usually as to medicine efficacy. I about 25% of time (so maybe 1 time “sparkly”occurs, random, every couple weeks). And next morning slight “sparkly”last a few minutes or an hour after I wake up, always goes away, never has lingered, per instruction years ago from Dr Pierre Kory. I don’t think much of it now.
I get random liver test, always good
I use ivermectin for a lot of issues- in addition to colds, flu, covid proactive and quick solution healing when I do contract- twice I was stung by swarms of hornets the ivermectin stopped the itching, swelling in 45 minutes one time 35 minutes the other- amazed me, asthma I’ve had all my life & it has 100% been eliminated (yes 100% & gone are also allergies/reactions to dog, cat, nitrates, peanuts) as to the asthma- yeah!, I take it (twice- I was exhausted) when I had to complete a task (remodeler/carpentry trim work) working in full humidity and in sun 90+ temps (it dissipated the heat stress so I could tolerate the heat well), my PSA is around 4.2 now (age 73) so taking for that (about to complement with menbendazole & large dosage vit C under telehealth IMA doctor- this will be a first), I like the dosage of 2x as I walk in woods in summer in midst of ticks, mosquito bites disappeared quickly at times. It is just a high performance med for me, thus far.
I have an aneurism found 6 years ago 4.2 cm in size (large) so I use ivermectin also to reduce body stress of inflammation ongoing (nobody told me this, this is just another reason I take it proactively). My aneurism is most difficult to correct in surgery, says my heart doc. It has remained same size since discovered.
I give gifts of ivermectin capsules in titanium medicine containers, with Scope, and XLear with instructions for friends and family at Christmas recently, and IMA general information. To use morning, night, after being with crowds.
Hope I didn’t talk too much, blessings.

Thanks for your input @tommywalkshills . You answered my question about ticks. Wondered if it would be effective in relieving the week long itch from tick bites. I have also noticed that IVM has been effective in countering histamine type stuff; allergies and runny nose.

@tommywalkshills Thanks very much as always. Lovely note.
@vegandan I too find it helps with what I think is a grass or pollen type allergy.

Tagging into my last text here. I had flu hit me (hard) Saturday (chills, no smell or taste, shaking) with fever 101+ by Sunday. I have had sore throat last week prior to. I took (triple dose- I call it the hospital dose) 3x of my .2mg/kg Saturday, Sunday, and yesterday Monday when I broken my fever yesterday afternoon.
I am (pleasantly) wore out normal BP vitals at moment, but relaxed as I may be post flu today -post fever. Most likely I will take 1x .2kg/mg ivermectin next couple days as I get back into normal day routine proactive.
(Maybe) the source of flu was my grandson who was sick through daycare, then to my wife who keeps him, then to me.
I did have a little ivermectin “sparkley” this morning, up at 6 it is mostly gone by 9 am
I took Flonase 4 times for nasal dripping, gargled with salt water & Scope, Xlear- water & tumeric and mint teas. I stopped my walking for couple days, will start back soon.
