Senior Fellow Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring created a video today commenting on a new “health care” start up, that will be dispensing SSRI medications via AI.
He argues that the current American mental health system already relies too heavily on automated protocols and over-prescribing rather than addressing the root causes of patient distress.
He says replacing human doctors with AI bots will only exacerbate these issues by removing common-sense clinical judgment.
He expresses concern that the company’s tech-focused founders lack the necessary medical background to understand the risks and complexities of psychiatric treatment.
