on May 30, 2026 at 7:10 am EDTI am an RN in the Indianapolis Indiana area. My 46 yo daughter-in-law called me yesterday to report she had discovered a tender nodule in her breast. What should her next step be? Thermography imaging? Any IMA functional medicine Docs or NP’s in the Indianapolis area? Thanks in advance!

Thermogram and or Ultrasound and or Mammogram.
General surgery consult. Excision and Antibiotics.
Pathology to analyze tissue.
Cancer usually painless.
Painful nodule usually infected or inflamed lymph node or gland.
If cancer consider conventional care plus Diet modification like Keto, IV Ozone, IV C high dose. IV ALA, LDN, IVM, mebendazole.

I went through all of this personally and learned a lot.
The actual best test for a breast cancer is the “abbreviated breast MRI” which gives much more useful information than any mammogram. Mammograms have been under epidemiological scrutiny for a few years since the use of mammography has not reduced breast cancer deaths and since mammography is somewhat harmful. The abbreviated breast MRI I got cost about $300 and Medicare paid for it. There are excellent short, readable histories of mammography which make it clear that the profit motive has influenced the use of mammography in ways that do not benefit the patient. One might want to read up on this when faced with important decisions.

Thank you for your response @dr-wawa . I was also leary of a mammogram for diagnostic purposes d/t recent findings but was unsure if US or thermography would be helpful/preferred. I appreciate your personal perspective.

I don’t see the value of thermography in this situation. I was considering using it for screening purposes through a functional medicine Dr, but her colleague began doubting the usefulness of it because it is not able to be used to rule out anything suspicious. There are so many factors for this woman: how old is she, has she had a mammogram, could she be pregnant, etc? Has she been doing BSE?

Hello @pojeda , thank you. She is 47 years old, is perimenopausal. She is G6P5 and is not pregnant.. She has not had any of the CV vaccines. She does do regular BSE’s, is not taking any Rx meds and has not had a mammogram recently. She is in excellent health, is not overweight and exercises regularly.

Hi @crazygram61 …Always a stressful time, but also a time to get advice from a trusted practitioner. I just wanted to pop a link here to the cancer hub https://imahealth.org/cancer-resource-hub/.
A link to the IMA provider directory, where you can search by state. https://imahealth.org/providers/
We are focussing on building the provider directory, but unfortunately it all takes time. Hope the above helps, but in the meantime some links below:
Three Doctors are taking on new patients that may be worth a tele-health call:
Dr. Michael Turner

Dr. Saleeby
https://imahealth.org/providers/jp-saleeby-md/
Dr. Mollie James

Please keep us posted.

Thanks so much @IMA-HelenT for those links. My DIL has become disenchanted with allopathic medicine since Covid, like the rest of us, may not even, at this point, see a FP provider. I appreciate the resources for her so she can get some guidance from those who are IMA members.
I recently attended my first IMA Conference in Texas and am so glad to have this team of resources! Thank you so much for keeping this forum active!

Always so happy if we can help @crazygram61 , I was not able to attend the conference this year, but they are always such uplifting events.
