Dr. Varon’s Brownstone article starts with the story of a professional athlete suffering a pulmonary embolism, his article raises a much bigger question about modern medicine.
We have incredible technology, sophisticated tests and now AI, but asks if doctors are losing something important along the way, the ability to listen, think critically and use good clinical judgement?
More tests don’t automatically mean better care. Sometimes the right decision is to investigate further, sometimes it’s to hold back. The important thing is understanding the patient and knowing why you’re making that decision.
