2 Medicinal Mushrooms banned in the UK
I always think we have reached the tipping point, but about a week ago the UK government went ahead and restricted people’s ability to access Turkey Tail and some Cordyceps mushrooms. They did this by labeling them as “novel foods”.
A bit of history, they have been used for centuries across many cultures, they grow wild in the forests in the UK they have lots of studies attached to these mushrooms, for instance they have studied the ability of Turkey Tail’s ability to activate the immune cells and offer support during cancer treatment, people use it for IBS and more. (Have you used them?)
You can’t patent a mushroom, it’s cheap and easy to grow and difficult to control, so they bury it in crazy legislation.🍄
As always, the question is who benefits most?

Unter der Novel Food Verordnung der Europäischen Union leidet die Heilpflanzenheilkunde seit Jahrzehnten. Der Vertrieb der Nobelpreispflanze 2015, Artemisia annua wird in Deutschland aufgrund dieser Verordnung verboten. Auch Basilikum und Zimt würden heute keine Zulassung mehr erhalten.

Der promovierte Pharmazeut Hans-Martin Hirt aus Winnenden ist ein Kenner von Heilpflanzen. Der chinesische Beifuß schätzte ihn besonders und verbreitete ihn. Das hat dem 70-Jährigen und einem Teeversandhandel viel Ärger eingebracht. Von Annette Clauß

“Herbal medicine has been suffering for decades under the European Union’s Novel Food Regulation. The sale of Artemisia annua, the 2015 Nobel Prize-winning plant, is prohibited in Germany due to this regulation. Basil and cinnamon would also no longer be approved under this regulation.

Hans-Martin Hirt, a pharmacist with a doctorate from Winnenden, is an expert on medicinal plants. He particularly valued and promoted Chinese mugwort. This has caused the 70-year-old and a tea mail-order company considerable trouble. By Annette Clauß
