💡 Did you know “pre-op meds” for cancer are a thing?
-
Most of us hear: “Surgery removes the tumor, end of story.”
Dr. Paul Marik’s new IMA guide flips that script: certain repurposed drugs, taken just before and after the operation, may slash the odds of post-surgery metastasis.
Reasons this matters
1️⃣ Surgery can shed tumor cells. The op itself can push cancer cells into the bloodstream.
2️⃣ Immune dip window. Right after surgery, immunity drops, perfect time for rogue cells to seed.
3️⃣ Off-patent meds exist now. Low-risk, inexpensive drugs (outlined in the guide) can target that window and may reduce recurrence.
🤔 Questions
If you have had surgery for cancer, did the oncologist ever mention a pre-operative drug protocol?
If not, would it be something you would raise with your specialist?
