How to Adjust Notifications
-
The system allows you to subscribe to various notifications to make sure you don’t miss anything of interest, but sometimes the system can get too noisy.
This guide will go over some ways you can both subscribe and unsubscribe from different types of notifications.
Subscribing to a Forum or Discussion
You can subscribe to an entire Forum and be alerted of any new Discussion started there. We recommend you do this for the Announcements forum, so you don’t miss important updates. You can also do this for any specific content you are interested in, like maybe new Weekly Webinars or new episodes of Long Story Short.
You can also subscribe to a specific Discussion if you want to be alerted of any new replies.
Subscribing/Unsubscribing on Groups
By default, you will be subscribed to any group you join. This can be rather noisy if the group has a lot of activity or just activity in bursts.
You can adjust this by clicking the bell icon for each group you are a member of.
Messaging Notifications
You can mute chat channels, group chats, or direct messages with the Mute feature.
If you are offline, you can get email notifications of unread messages. You can adjust this in your Inbox/Message Center settings.
Controlling Individual Notifications Settings
Sometimes you may want to selectively turn off certain types of notifications from the forums. For example you may want to turn off notifications every time some replies to a discussion that you subscribed to. You can do this by clicking on your profile image, rolling your mouse over the Accounts menu, and then clicking on the Notifications Settings menu. This will take you to a screen where you can manage notifications settings.
