Loved this IG post from @justtheinserts, she says this is the number one question she is asked.

Here’s a few ideas to re-frame the question that may provide a good starting point.

I personally like to shift the question first. As someone who’s been on the receiving end of “being convinced”… it’s not a fun feeling to sense you’re being manipulated (or a cherished relationship is dependent upon a medical decision).

So, let’s start with rephrasing the question to match the intention. Maybe it’s more like:

    – “How do I communicate my fears around vaccines (or diseases) to my partner so they’ll understand how important this is to me?”

    – “What is the best way to prevent emotional escalation when talking about vaccines, even with people I love?”

    – “Is there a way to collaborate with my partner on the best path for our child?”

For the most part, parents truly want what is best for their child. Assuming good intentions for your partner is a helpful first step.

Wondering if you have any tips or can share what has worked for you when navigating, what can be, difficult discussions?
