This Had Me Screaming at the Universe!

One of my close friends in the UK is about to go through aggressive chemotherapy and major surgery for breast cancer. She recently shared the NHS dietary guidelines she was given — and honestly, they were even more shocking than I expected.

Every doctor she has seen has told her that food will have no effect on her cancer, and that supplements or vitamins are a waste of time. One even said, “Don’t mention them to me — it just makes me angry.”

Take a look at the attached image to get a sense of what’s being recommended. As my friend says, if you had to listen to their advice, your next stop is the diabetes clinic.

I’m lucky my friend is aware of food as medicine, she is curious and using the IMA protocols where she can.

So this is not to criticize individuals who are clearly under pressure, but moments like this remind me just how big the gap still is between modern biomedical treatment and any meaningful discussion about nutrition, metabolic health, or supportive care.

Sometimes I realize we still have a very big hill to climb and am so thankful for the free resources that the IMA provides to people that face a cancer diagnosis.

A reminder that we have all the cancer resources in the Hub…https://imahealth.org/cancer-resource-hub/

I will join in you in screaming ! It seems the intention is to create diabetes and/or a more friendly environment for cancer to grow, not decrease :-((

It certainly feels that way @cynamyn ! and to top it, if you can, the video that explained what a person with diabetes and cancer should eat most of it is cereal and carbs … and their main concern seems to be that the patient should never lose weight 😩

this is outrageous!! I can’t believe what I am reading:( This would put anyone’s health at risk, much less a cancer patient. UGH ! And we know that cancer thrives on SUGAR….this is a recipe for disaster.

Yep, but according to the NHS cancer doesn’t thrive on sugar, food won’t affect the outcome of someone with cancer, as I said to my friend they are literally signing some peoples’ death certificate with this information.

Doesn’t surprise me and it shouldn’t surprise you. We all know that medicine is all about profits. What better way to promote that than to send your cancer patients to the Diabetes clinic after they recover from their very expensive procedures.

Agree @shortstop It doesn’t surprise me, but it still makes it hard to read, and to know so many people still just trust the doctors and will pay a big price for that.

This worries me. Prof Angus Dalgleish has made it very clear that Chemotherapy doesn’t work unless the patient’s Vitamin D3 is up to scratch: (eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbATdSa7pTM from 6:37, or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9405FgR2Kik&t=278s from 7:30 to 14:10; and there’s lots more). He initiated a regime where he raised patient blood-serum Vit D (25-OHD) to at least 100nmols/L _before_ starting chemo, and others did not believe how successful he had become. I have a friend who was undergoing chemo, and I tasked her with asking the nurse: 1. When was her last Vit D3 measured? 2. What was the numerical result? 3. What units were used? They basically told her not to worry her pretty little head!! My concern is that this message has not yet got through to the NHS; and many on chemotherapy will simply die, as for those with low Vit D3 it is ineffective.

Great share @tonyl … Professor Dalgleish is a powerhouse of knowledge, we are lucky to count him as an IMA Senior Fellow

And the knock on effects of COVID lockdowns just keeps growing ….

It is precisely this type of advice that makes it so difficult for us to help others. I have a sister-in-law who has now had three separate bouts with cancer who does not believe my wife and me when we tell her sugars are her enemy. With no corroboration from her doctors, our advice is given no credence in her mind.

So sorry for your friend. The UK seems to be backwards when it comes to good nutrition, especially for cancer! These snack recommendations are ridiculous and harmful for cancer treatment and recovery with all that sugar! I would guide her to the IMA cancer treatment information!

Thank you @roweyt …Luckily, she is very open to the stuff I send her so is wide awake to all the IMA Cancer Care resources and is using the dietary guidelines and repurposed drugs to support her recovery. But, so many others trust the system blindly. 🙁
