I’m watching this film right now and they talk about the “playbook”. I heard about the playbook first from Dr. Pierre Kory and that it started with the Tobacco industry, but I didn’t know there was such a concise movie on the topic.

It’s amazing how, for example, vilifying cholesterol and saturated fat was done by Big Sugar as a diversion from the harms of sugar. Flame retardants were pushed by the Tobacco industry. The motives are indeed always money motivated but it’s hard to always see by who’s interests some things are being done. Meanwhile, millions of people are dying or becoming sick from the side effects of statins or flame retardants, etc.

What I’d like to see is laws put into place that can try a company and its board for homicide based on these deceptive playbook tactics.

Why is it so difficult for us to enforce honesty to the point people die every day based on these types of deceptions and tactics?

Thanks for sharing this, one I haven’t watched even though I have read huge amounts about the tobacco play book.

I found the film to be informative and interesting for perhaps the first 30 minutes and then the last hour they seemed to dive exclusively into politics and climate change which is not what I was interested in. It would have been nice had they kept to just the facts on the playbook rather than turning it into a specific topic and agenda. What I found interesting was that the same people are often being hired (are behind) the playbook for unrelated topics. The author did some good digging, I just wish the film had stuck to the digging rather than focusing on climate change in the latter part.

How I found the film was it was referenced in the book I just read: The Great Cholesterol Myth, Revised and Expanded: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won’t Prevent Heart Disease–and the Statin-Free Plan that Will.
