I’m troubled by the frequency with which I hear experts on “our side” say that the CDC doesn’t offer guidance on treating measles. I think it is because people don’t go beyond the commonly-referenced page https://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/index.html. But linked from the very basic page https://www.cdc.gov/measles/index.html is their Clinical Overview for professionals:
https://www.cdc.gov/measles/hcp/clinical-overview/index.html
where under the Patient Management heading there is an “Updated Vitamin A recommendation.” It was added relatively recently (probably for obvious reasons), but it nevertheless is there.
As long as people on “our side” continue to not mention it, cover is given to entities like the Texas medical board to claim that Vitamin A is not an approved treatment.
