I’m troubled by the frequency with which I hear experts on “our side” say that the CDC doesn’t offer guidance on treating measles. I think it is because people don’t go beyond the commonly-referenced page https://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/index.html. But linked from the very basic page https://www.cdc.gov/measles/index.html is their Clinical Overview for professionals:

    https://www.cdc.gov/measles/hcp/clinical-overview/index.html

where under the Patient Management heading there is an “Updated Vitamin A recommendation.” It was added relatively recently (probably for obvious reasons), but it nevertheless is there.

As long as people on “our side” continue to not mention it, cover is given to entities like the Texas medical board to claim that Vitamin A is not an approved treatment.

Interesting, what does that site say about the “MMR” vaccine? And about this graphic (and BTW, it is out-of-date, in NY State the number is (78) or more – REQUIRED to attend ANY “school” in NY!)? There is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ information everywhere, but at the end of the day, it gets down to “who/what do you trust”, and the “CDC” (like the “FDA”, and I might add – a sizable percentage of “doctors”) – ALL institutions once trusted – let “greed” get in the way and forfeited that ‘trust’. We’re all here because this source has our trust; the information is ‘informed’, and (like all such) may or may not be accurate, but at least we trust it is ‘honest’ and without ulterior motive, and that’s a good as it gets. the best you can hope for. The CDC no longer enjoys that trust with many of us, and as long as it’s heads are ‘appointed’ in a government-run institution, Bobby has a long journey to walk their reputation back. In addition to serving in an intelligence agency, I’ve been “Government Mgr.” for (2) Fortune 50 corporations – there are millions of excellent, sincere people working in government, but, I’m sorry to say, very few ‘running’ it or deciding what it will tell the public.

72 vaccines REQUIRED to attend school. That’s monstrous. In UK where I was born, I’m nearly 70, we had 6 it’s now 8 but NONE are required to attend school. I also had a tetanus in 96 after falling through a rusty manhole cover. But knowing what we know now, none of us will ever have any more and my great grandchildren will have NONE ever.

👍 Thanks dickatlee, you’re right, we do need to always look a little deeper. Hopefully one day, with the new broom, there’ll be more alignment across the health advisory organizations.
