I have adopted Dr. Kory’s position on vaccines. I have serious doubts about the safety and efficacy of any vaccine and doubt that I will take any vaccine for the remainder of my life. I had shingles 15 years ago and it was annoying at worst but it didn’t last very long. I read something recently about the shingles vax having some issue which I ignored since my risk of getting another episode of shingles was low.

I feel exactly the same! All vaccines are suspect at this point and I won’t be taking any more. I had shingles in my mid 30’s and it was painful but not horrible. I’d rather take my chances with getting shingles than chancing the vaccine injuries (and the liklihood that it won’t improve my chances of not getting them).

FWIW, I had a “whopping” case of shingles (quoting my MD) as a result of a spinal injury many years ago (was bed ridden for 2 months) and dealt with post-herpetic neuralgia for a year afterward. I even still have a residual tremor from the nerve damage. In spite of all this, I would *NEVER* recommend the shingles vaccine.
At this point, there is virtually no evidence demonstrating that any vaccines are worth the risk ~ and my recommendation would be to avoid any vaccines from this point forward. Learn more about our horrific vaccine legacy:

Hello , my wife just came down with Shingles and my doctor said I should get the Shingrix vaccine, does it use MRNA or lipid nanoparticles?

I won’t be getting the shingles vax. Lysine, 1,000 mg. daily, helps to prevent shingles. Also helps if one has shingles.

Two weeks ago my 64 yo male friend got the shingles vaxx in the morning and by evening he felt like he was having a heart attack. Very healthy person. He was dx with pericarditis. Of course his doctors call it a coincidence. we know better!

I had heard that the shingles vaccine does have mRNA in it. I am 69 and have never gotten any vaccines as an adult and do not intend to. I do not trust ANY so-called vaccine or shot anymore. In fact, I stay far away from doctors except for annual visits for lab work.

I had the Shingles vaccine (Shingrex) in 2019. I was really sick the evening of the second dose-light headed, aching all over etc. But the next day I woke up with abdominal pain right in the center of my abdomen. It continued to get worse throughout the day and in the middle of the night I was in excruciating pain and went to the ER. I was diagnosed with a small bowel obstruction and admitted to the hospital. My abdominal CT showed massive inflammation-my gastroenterologist looked at it and he told me it was the worst intestinal inflammation he had ever scene. Over the coarse of the next four days in the hospital the obstruction resolved without surgery but I am left with a bowel that doesn’t work correctly. The part that was so swollen and inflamed is “floppy” according to my GI Dr., who agreed with me that the Shingrex vaccine was the cause. There was absolutely no other possible cause. Not a common side effect yet it did happen to me and was horrible.

There are many self-reported reactions from Shingrix. Here are a few I pulled out that show cases of an Epstein Barr reaction:
