Ivermectin: with or without food?

• Ivermectin: with or without food?

Posted by Markintosh on December 12, 2024 at 6:47 pm EST

My wife is taking Ivermectin (I-Recover long-Covid protocol). We are in Canada, so there are no doctors around to assist with the protocol and questions:( I appreciate any help from the community (hopefully, those questions are allowed here). Should she take IVM with or without food? The protocol suggests taking it with the food, but the general suggestion is 30 minutes before or 2 hours after food. How are you taking it? Again, thank you in advance for your feedback!

I am taking ivermectin for cancer so not sure if the protocol is the same for long covid or not. When I frist started I took it empty stomach but when I started talking with other cancer patients they all said with food especailly with fats for better absorption. If I am not eating a meal I usually just take it with a spoonful of coconut oil.

Hi Jennifer,

How do you get your ivermectin. I’m in Ohio & I don’t think ac pharmacy will fill it, not to mention getting a Dr to prescribe it.

Thank you kindly,

Charlene😊

For my patients I suggest taking it on an empty stomach unless it upsets their stomachs then take with food

She has been taking it on an empty stomach for close to 2 months, starting with 0.3 mg and now 0.6 mg — no apparent effect so far. I’m wondering, should she go back to 0.3 mg or continue with 0.6 mg?

I’m going to assume that you mean 3mg and 6mg rather than .3mg and .6mg. Dosages under 1mg probably do not have any therapeutic affect. Dosage is based on weight. A typical dose is 200 micro grams per kg of body weight. Higher dosages can range upwards of 1mg per kg of body weight for conditions such as cancer. IVM is fat soluble and is easier to transfer through the gut membranes when taken with fatty foods. Taking IVM on an empty stomach can be upsetting for some. It will be absorbed without the food but the rate and amount will be lower. The half life of IVM is between 12 and 36 hours depending on source. I use 24 hours as a retention rate marker. IVM is cumulative based on the half life. If I remember right, something like 80% of the IVM ingested gets absorbed within the first four hours. IVM is metabolized in the liver and gets distributed throughout the body except the brain [BBB].

0.3 mg/kg and 0.6 mg/kg dosage — everything according to the table in the protocol.

Best taken on an empty stomach but can also be taken with food if it doesn’t upset your stomach. As well, take zinc with it and some quericitin. Another tip, and it worked for me – if your wife has lost her sense of taste and/or smell, chew nicorettes or use a nicorette patch. I’m in Canada – where in Canada are you? Wishing your wife well in her journey to recovery.

We are in Niagara Falls, Ontario. I heard about nicotine patches and need to read more about them. She lost her smell and taste during the Covid and got it partially back after. Her main problems are muscle pain everywhere and polyarthritis triggered by a virus (no vaxx). It’s been a tough 6 months — she’s been taking IVM and LDN for close to 2 months with no apparent progress so far. I know the recovery is a long-term process, and I hope it will start to show an improvement with time.

Ivermectin is 2.5 times better absorbed when taken with fat. That was one of the ways they rigged the studies showing “it doesn’t work”. They told people in the study to “take on an empty stomach” to lessen the positive effect.

This also explains why it frequently came from pharmacies with a sticker directing patients to take on an empty stomach! I had to tell patients to ignore whatever sticker is on the bottle and take with food.

Everything I been told is to take ideally with a “fatty” meal usually at lunch. I’m a patient with Scott Marsland and Dr. Kory’s clinic.

UKCVFamily: This registered charity offers support and advocacy for individuals who have suffered adverse reactions or bereavement due to COVID-19 vaccinations. They work to raise awareness within the healthcare system, media, and government, and have been granted core participant status in the UK’s COVID-19 Public Inquiry.

UK CV Family

Legal Support and Advocacy Groups: Organizations such as Vaccine Injured Bereaved UK (VIBUK) and the Scottish Vaccine Injury Group offer support and advocacy for those affected by vaccine injuries. These groups have been granted core participant status in the UK’s COVID-19 Public Inquiry, allowing them to provide formal evidence.

Legal Assistance: Law firms like Hausfeld LLP provide legal support to individuals seeking compensation for vaccine-related injuries. They have been involved in advocating for changes to the VDPS to better support affected individuals.

TAKING IVERMECTIN WITH HIGH FAT GREATLY INCREASES ITS ABSORPTION

I checked the ivermectin “fat” link – surprise! surprise! The link now goes to the FDA and the FDA page says “Page Not Found”. Yet for now that study result is still referenced here https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2008/050742s022lbl.pdf for the record the relative referenced result for the “page not found” study is copied below

“CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY

Pharmacokinetics

Following oral administration of ivermectin, plasma concentrations are approximately proportional to the dose. In two studies, after single 12-mg doses of STROMECTOL in fasting healthy volunteers (representing a mean dose of 165 mcg/kg), the mean peak plasma concentrations of the major component (H 2B 1a) were 46.6 (±21.9) (range: 16.4-101.1) and 30.6 (±15.6) (range: 13.9-68.4) ng/mL, respectively, at approximately 4 hours after dosing. Ivermectin is metabolized in the liver, and ivermectin and/or its metabolites are excreted almost exclusively in the feces over an estimated 12 days, with less than 1% of the administered dose excreted in the urine. The plasma half-life of ivermectin in man is approximately 18 hours following oral administration. The safety and pharmacokinetic properties of ivermectin were further assessed in a multiple-dose clinical pharmacokinetic study involving healthy volunteers. Subjects received oral doses of 30 to 120 mg (333 to 2000 mcg/kg) ivermectin in a fasted state or 30 mg (333 to 600 mcg/kg) ivermectin following a standard high-fat (48.6 g of fat) meal. Administration of 30 mg ivermectin following a high-fat meal resulted in an approximate 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability relative to administration of 30 mg ivermectin in the fasted state.”

2 sentences to notice here

1) “Subjects received oral doses of 30 to 120 mg (333 to 2000 mcg/kg) ivermectin in a fasted state”

note the 120 mg dose given to test subjects

2) “or 30 mg (333 to 600 mcg/kg) ivermectin following a standard high-fat (48.6 g of fat) meal. Administration of 30 mg ivermectin following a high-fat meal resulted in an approximate 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability relative to administration of 30 mg ivermectin in the fasted state.”

Thank you for the info!
The FDA link says, “STROMECTOL should be taken on an empty stomach with water. (See CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY, Pharmacokinetics.)” I guess it’s for “anti-parasite” use?

I’m sorry to hear that your wife is still struggling. It took me about a year to get back to somewhat “normal”. My hair was falling out as well. For that, B5 (pantothenic acid), keratin, biotin, collagen, silica – whatever works – and rub scalp with Rosemary oil. Other essential oils work as well. It just takes time and patience but she will improve. Wishing you well.

You are absolutely supposed to take it with food and preferably something fatty like butter or olive or coconut oil for better absorption. The directions about taking it on an empty stomach were for treating parasites that were in the GI tract.

You have a great Dr. in Canada.

Dr. William Makis

Alberta, Canada

I have been taking 120mg/day of Iver for several months now and never noticed any change whether I take it with or without food.
