Has anyone used ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine with any success to treat Hashimoto’s? Looking for help to lower TPO antibiodies. Hashimotos is an autoimmune disease, which HCQ is often used for. Just a thought, so reaching out in case someone has experience with this?

I never took anything other than thyroid replacement, still do, but my thyroid was removed 3 years ago. They suspected a malignancy, but pathology showed Hashimotos.

    Hi all,

I do have Hashimoto’s and have not heard about treating the condition with either of the drugs. That said, I have taken both over the last 3 years with no issues or reactions. That said, I get lab draws every 6 months and even though I do show and antibody level, it is never been too high. It is hopeful if these drugs work to eliminate the use of thyroid medications. May I ask where you heard that this may be helpful?

Hello Hello!!! Just wanted to jump on here and offer some suggestions, though I don’t know specifically whether Ivermectin can support lower TPO levels in Hashimotos….what I do know is that lifestyle factors and clever nutraceuticals can be TREMENDOUSLY helpful- to they point where remission can be achieved.

    My Tops tips:

    1. 100% try to screen for food sensitivities and have a comprehensive GI map done to look for infection and dysbyosis- this is really important! Anything auto-immune I always think gut and detoxification. Then looking at trying to lower toxin burden as much as possible.

    2. Clean balanced diet- absolutely no gluten and really try avoiding dairy. Clean protein and lots of colorful veggies and lots of hydration. Aim for a more Auto-immune Paleo Diet style with low glycemic index

    3. Vitamin D, Myo-Insoitol, Zinc, Magnesium, Iron (check iron levels first), Selenium, B12, thiamine, Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids, Probiotics, L-Glutamine

    4. Herbs/Adaptogens: Ashwagandha, Black Cumin Seed oil (Nigella Sativa), Bacopa and Cordyceps (mycotherapy)

    5. Stress is a HUGE driver of inflammation. Weave ways to combat this into your life and make sleep a priority.

    Hope that helps

    Dr. Kristina Carman

You might find this chart helpful- standard thyroid reference ranges vs the optimal ones. In fact even with the optimal ranges I tend to like seeing TSH to be between 1-2 mlU/L and TPO <2 IU/mL

I would like to know if IVM and HCQ are effective also. My daughter has Hashimoto’s. Diet is the ONLY thing that helps her. I will definitely inform her of the supplements Dr. Kristina Carmen. Thank You for your input.
