    Hi all

Everyday about 5 times a day I run through the posts and delete any that are spam and set those “always new” users to Suspended.

We are moving to a new forum application very soon, where we’ll be able to be much more granular and hopefully stop all this rubbish from getting into your inbox. It’s going to be happening pretty soon.

We are all over it, and even with a spam plug-in, these long form posts are getting through, and it’s a manual cleanup the next day, and vigilance throughout the day. Hopefully by the time you get these in your inbox they’ll already have been set to Spam.

Apologies again, We are working on it always.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Greg

I hope the new platform will eliminate these spam posts altogether. In the last 20 hours I have received EIGHT email alerts of them. It seems my only choice is to unsubscribe from email alerts altogether in order to avoid all these spam post alerts. Please tell me if I have any other options. Thank you.

Maybe one stop-gap measure would be to limit the length of posts; all these spam posts are as long as my arm.

Hey @adesimba , thanks for this note. I responded to your note to IMA Support today too.

What we need to do is hold new users with new posts in a queue for review before posting, and we can’t do that currently with our forum system.

We will be changing systems soon, and will offer us much more granularity with regards spam. I agree, none shold get through. We’re doing the best we can with the system we have, and a lot does get caught. I think it’s the long form that’s getting through.

Apologies all again. It as an unexpectedly bad spam day.

      Cheers

      Greg

I wonder if the site is being spammed to discourage use.

Maybe a little too much questioning of the ‘truth’ here?

    Thanks and good health, Weogo

@wsred Hi there, no I don’t think it to discourage use. Though I like your thinking. It’s long form Spam and it’s somehow getting through our spam filter. Anyway, I’m watching for it, and everyday I’ll post a log like the one above about the spam that I’ve seen and set to spam. It’ll be an ongoing thing unfortunately.

I have noticed that there are more notices for posts to the forum that have nothing to do with what it’s about and are clearly spam, self promotion. The one today from som Irish digital marketing platform is a perfect example.

Who from the IMA is monitoring this?

@retiredotcanada Hi there, you’re right, and I’m watching it all day. The post three above is the list of all I’ve set to spam today.

Unfortunately the notifcations go out on posting. We don’t have the ability with our current forum to stall before reveiw’ new posts from new users. Having looked at the new forum system we’re going to be moving to this shouldn’t be a problem.

Apologies for the frustration, but I do expect by the time you see the spam, it’ll have been set to span, and the user suspended.

      Thanks

      Greg
