The Independent Medical Alliance (IMA) has expressed strong support for the HHS’s recent policy change requiring placebo-controlled trials for all new vaccines before approval. (link at the bottom of the post to our statement.)

I know so many people just assume that modern medicine follows basic scientific best practice and shocked to discover that placebo tests are not a standard for testing vaccines, that we all but, mandate for our babies.

As always, we have people that oppose this, saying it could lead to slow vaccine development and delay access to essential immunizations. I don’t know about you, but I have to wonder about any person that would oppose rigorous testing for anything we inject into children.

I wonder how this is going to play out, what are your thoughts and observations?

Anything that brings us closer to efficacy and product safety (significantly more benefits than adverse reactions) is a step in the right direction though I’d be really upset if they settled for that. It will be a very long time before I believe the test data that comes from pharmaceutical companies.

I agree @shortstop – It’s going to a concerted effort and lots of transparency to bring back trust.
