First, apologies if this has been covered already – I don’t know how to find it.

A friend, 70 years old, has been diagnosed with diabetes 1. He likely is still getting the shots but I don’t ask anymore. Has there been a correlation between the shots, spike, or covid and diabetes? Thanks so much. Wishing everyone a new year of health, joy and love.

If you do a search for “COVID-19 induced type 1 diabetes: A systematic review of case reports and series” you’ll find a PubMed article that discusses new T1 onset after COVID infection. I imagine, if it’s the spike protein, that the vax can cause it as well, but I don’t know if that’s been “officially recognized”.

There are several case studies published on new-onset Type 1 diabetes after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination. These case studies are reports that concern one individual person, not a population-based analysis. One example is this 2024 article: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Caused by COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination: A Case Report and Literature Review of 17 Published Cases by Bhatia Aggarwal Barjuca & Halalau.

Unfortunately, my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2023. He received two COVID jabs in late 2021 and early 2022. He has never tested positive for COVID (nor have I). No one on either side of the family has T1D. I believe the COVID jabs triggered my son’s T1D. I also note that my son has joint hypermobility and so do I. I am also vaccine injured from the COVID jabs and I believe joint hypermobility is a risk factor for vaccine injury. A Midwestern Doctor has written about this on substack.

At the link below, you will find a study titled, “Autoimmune diabetes mellitus after COVID-19 vaccination in adult population: a systematic review of case reports”
