Breastfeeding and Ivermectin?
Hi there, I know that on IMA website it states it’s not ideal to use IVM while breastfeeding. My question is what is the risk? Or is it not known so we avoid it, like many things in pregnancy and breastfeeding? And have people done this on case by case basis? I am more concerned about baby getting spike protein and potential long term unforeseen concerns than IVM short term. I want to hear others input here though. I believe there are some treatments where babies receive IVM, so it seems there are contexts in which IVM would be given to a baby. I don’t even know how much is actually passed through mother’s milk to baby either. Thanks for your input!

- Studies measuring ivermectin levels in nursing women show that less than 1% of the maternal dose transfers into breast milk.
- This means an infant would receive a fraction of the mother’s dose — far below therapeutic or toxic levels.
👶 Safety evidence
- The World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) both note that ivermectin is generally considered compatible with breastfeeding, particularlyif the baby is older than 7 days.
- No adverse effects have been reported in breastfed infants whose mothers took standard doses (around 200 µg/kg).
