All About Tallow
What’s the “beef” (on tallow?)
In this episode of Whole Body Health, host and IMA Senior Fellow Dr. Yusuf (JP) Saleeby dishes on this base ingredient quickly gaining mainstream popularity.
Tallow is a fat rendered from ruminant animals, and is made primarily of triglyceride (TG) fats. It is used as a cooking oil and in other food preparation.
Historically used to make soap (tallowate) along with lye/caustic soda, Tallow can be taken internally (in food or as a supplement) as well as used topically for skin care. Tallow has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial benefits, and is a great option for treating acne. Dr. Saleeby shares why tallow is making a comeback as a natural, time-tested choice of fat for human consumption and use!
